Developing nanotechnological strategies for green industrial processes*
Nanotechnology and green chemistry can have much in common from the point of view of processes, considering the possibilities of improving efficiency and quality, achieving a better economy of atoms and energy, promoting catalysis under mild and sustainable conditions, and facilitating online monitoring of production lines and environment. Some of these aspects are dealt with in this paper, foc...
متن کاملStrategies for combining chemotherapy and biotherapy in melanoma.
Cutaneous malignant melanoma is an increasingly common clinical problem. Estimates indicate that in 1999, a total of 44,200 new cases of melanoma were diagnosed.1 Early primary melanoma is cured in most cases, but once the disease becomes metastatic to distant organs, it is almost always fatal. The treatment of metastatic melanoma remains unsatisfactory, with patient survival dictated primarily...
متن کاملMetronomic Capecitabine for Elderly Advanced Gastric Carcinoma Patients Pretreated With One or Two Systemic Chemotherapy Lines
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of metronomic capecitabine chemotherapy in pretreated elderly patients with advanced gastric carsonoma. Patients and Methods: Eligible patients were treated with capecitabine at a fixed dose of 1000mg daily until disease progression or toxicity. Endpoints were overall response rate, safety, progression-free survival...
متن کاملNew strategies for melanoma immunotherapy
Using ret transgenic mouse model of spontaneous melanoma, we showed an accumulation of melanoma antigen-specific memory T cells. However, their antitumor effects could be blocked by myeloid-derived suppressor cells, tolerogenic dendritic cells and regulatory T cells. We suggest that effective melanoma immunotherapy should include the neutralization of immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.
متن کامل[Emergent strategies in interventional cardiology].
Despite the advances in the treatment of patients with coronary artery disease, sudden cardiac death is still unacceptably prevalent. Patients with ischemic heart disease usually require a combination of therapies (drugs and coronary intervention) and may continue to experience symptoms. Recently, numerous percutaneous interventional treatments and diagnostic tools have been developed to diagno...
